Rio Perdido Hotel thermal pools

Rio Perdido has three thermal mineral swimming pools: hot, warm, and cool. The Restaurant is committed to sourcing local and fresh ingredients to create authentic Guanacaste dishes. Additionally, the restaurant features sweeping views of the Miravalles Canyonlands and surrounding Dwarf Forest. Two bars and room service are also available to guests.

Rio Perdido Thermal River

The Rio Perdido thermal river is the focal point of the nature reserve. The river is heated by the surrounding Miravalles Volcano lowlands. The rich minerals and energy present in the soil have created dozens of natural springs of varying temperatures in which travelers can relax and enjoy.

In addition to the thermal river, there are more than 10 miles of hiking trails and several hanging bridges throughout the reserve. Bikes are available for rent to discover the 12-mile network of bike trails on-site. Other activities at Rio Perdido include white canyon tubing, volcanic mud bathing, canyoning with a “Tarzan swing,” the spa, and shopping at The Workshop and Artisan Store. From the hotel, visits to Palo Verde National Park and Llanos de Cortes Waterfall can be arranged.

Rio Perdido Bungalows

Rio Perdido has 20 elevated treehouse style bungalows. Each crisp, minimalistic bungalow is uniquely designed but showcases the same amenities.

Bungalows consist of a bedroom, bathroom, day sofa, smart LED TV, music dock/alarm clock, coffee and tea maker, safe, WiFi, A/C, mini bar stocked with healthy snacks, Cable TV, and a floating balcony terrace with two comfortable hammocks.

The new Jaguar Villa

The new Jaguar Villa is a spacious private hideaway right on the Pacuare River perfect for couples and families. The villa features a spacious master bedroom, a large living area with two daybeds, a spring-fed plunge pool and terrace, indoor and outdoor shower, and private bridge and treetop platform with views of the river. Maximum occupancy: 5 people.

Please Note: Pacuare Lodge has a minimum age of 12 years for rafting & a minimum age of 7 for overnight at the lodge.

Rios Lodge is located on a 2000-acre private reserve, inside the Pacuare Protected Zone. The reserve contains more than 40 miles of hiking trails as well as numerous streams and waterfalls. Various accommodations are available, set upon the mountainside at varying heights, giving amazing views of the river and the rainforest.

Tropical Rivers Rafting

Our Costa Rica Experts suggest checking out Rios Lodge on a whitewater rafting trip. The minimum age to paddle down the Pacuare River varies: 14 years old during the rainy season and 12 years old during the dry season.

The majority of multi-day rafting trips include a one-night or three-night stay at the Rios Lodge – and with everything, there is to do in the area, it’s no surprise that it’s often a highlight of the trip! There are a host of unstructured activities, such as tree-planting, and guests can also take advantage of a multitude of tours, such as horseback riding, canopy zip line, or hikes through the beautiful forest.  For those less enthused about that much activity, the lodge has conveniently placed hammocks near the river which are perfect for meditation, reading a book, or just taking that afternoon nap!

Rios Lodge Rooms

The rooms at Rios Lodge range from deluxe rooms in the lodge itself, overlooking the river, to rustic bunkhouses hidden among the trees and set back on the hillside. All rooms have private bathrooms, hot showers, electricity, and decks for wildlife and birdwatching.
